Vienna is celebrating the Johann Strauss bicentenary from January 1 to December 31, with a first night every week from 10 different genres, indoor and outdoor. There are event locations in all 23 districts of the city, some of them unexpected, like the Main Cemetery, the Danube Island Festival or up in the sky. Vienna’s great orchestras and many contemporary artists will be taking part.

“In 2025 we shall be celebrating Johann Strauss and the optimism and togetherness that his music stands for. His works are a glorious reflection of Vienna’s cultural eminence. The Strauss Festival Year rests on three pillars: new events, artistic diversity, and sustainable value creation in art, economy and tourism.”
