The initial concept for the planned sound installation is that the ocean and the waltz can be seen as related worlds. What they share are flowing movements—something extraordinarily dynamic yet static at the same time—that can be found both in maritime environments and in the waltz: sometimes light and effortless, at other times sweeping and intoxicating. The sound installation merges the waltz and the octopus into a new utopian space, aiming to open up possibilities for immersing oneself musically in the depths of Johann Strauss and experiencing his waltzes “with the motion of the waves of the sea.”
