Waldmeister

Strauss‘ penultimate operetta Waldmeister offers vocal delights galore, all at least on a par with the well-known overture. Josef E. Köpplinger‘s spirited new staging displays an exuberant delight in the amorous goings-on down in the woods. He even persuades us that, properly mixed, a bowl of
woodruff punch can function as a magic potion and restore order to a world in uproar. From start to finish, this delightful concoction is a hymn of praise to the delights of the senses.
