Visit to the Vienna 1900 exhibition followed by a concert
Strauss’ imagination teemed with roses, rotwein and emperors. Schoenberg et al. decked out his waltzes in modern garb while forfeiting nothing of their magic. The Merlin Ensemble’s contemporary versions take us into the present and are at the same time a vehicle for exploring the many worlds
of the Leopold Museum. Over 1,300 exhibits from all fields of (visual) culture illustrate this progression into the here-and-now. And Thomas Daniel Schlee’s waltz is a 3-in-a-bar doorway to the 21st century.
