It was with his violin in hand that Strauss directed his orchestra and enchanted his audiences. A 200th anniversary concert would be unthinkable without a tribute to this symbiotic relationship. For this purpose, world-famous virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter joins the Wiener Symphoniker under Manfred Honeck. Premiered here are works written for her in memory of Johann Strauss. And the Wiener Sängerknaben ensure that his immortal dance music will have a flourishing vocal future as well.
