MyGroove Workshops, Challenges & Sessions at the Otto Wagner Areal
To mark the 200th birthday of the Viennese waltz king, a unique large-scale musical project is being created at the interface between the digital and analog worlds. On behalf of Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna, several innovative workshops and jam sessions are being held in collaboration with the MyGroove digital music school run by renowned percussionist Martin Grubinger, the Vienna Department of Education, the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, Wien Holding and the Otto Wagner Areal. The focus is on the specially developed Strauss-Challenge in the MyGroove app. Educators were invited to explore the app in a playful way in order to reach and inspire Viennese schoolchildren to actively participate in this Strauss countdown. The project is also being extended to the entire city and encourages people between the ages of 12 and 99 to make music together. The Danube Waltz will be interpreted in a completely new way and an impressive musical echo of the past will be carried into the future.
