Since 2010 she has worked as a freelance costume designer for opera, drama and film in Germany, Austria, Norway and Switzerland, including for the National Theater Oslo, the Schauspiel and Oper Frankfurt, the Hanover State Opera, the Schauspiel and Oper Dortmund, the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Berliner Ensemble, the Volksbühne Berlin and the Vienna Burgtheater.
She has worked with directors including Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Ed. Hauswirth, Marcus Lobbes, Isabel Osthues and Juan Anton Rechi. She has a long-standing collaboration with Kay Voges.
In 2017, Mona Ulrich was nominated for the German Theater Award “Der Faust” together with Michael Sieberock-Serafimowitsch for the set design of the production DIE BORDERLINE-PROZESSION (directed by Kay Voges).
