Milena Michiko Flašar, born in St. Pölten in 1980, studied German and Romance languages and literature in Vienna and Berlin. She is the daughter of a Japanese mother and an Austrian father. Her novel Ich nannte ihn Krawatte has sold over 100,000 copies, premiered as a play at the Maxim Gorki Theatre and won several awards. It was longlisted for the German Book Prize in 2012 and has been translated into numerous languages. The author lives with her family in Vienna.
