EsRap

Through their releases and concerts in recent years, EsRAP have developed into a role model of Austrian resistant pop art with a migrant background and enjoy corresponding media attention.
Having grown up in the old working-class district of Ottakring in Vienna, siblings Esra and Enes Özmen have found hip hop to be the perfect medium for making their voices heard and gaining recognition for their own world and all its conflicts. Together they form the duo EsRAP and their mixed German/Turkish lyrics deal with questions of identity, being foreign in their own country as children of the third generation, the necessity of rebellion experienced first-hand, rap as resistance and also being a woman in the male-dominated hip hop world. In contrast to the usual division of roles in this world, Esra contributes the hard and fast rhymes, while her brother Enes takes on the more melodic vocal parts with his sensitive voice. Musically, EsRAP find inspiration in the Turkish oriental genre of arabesque, which they like to combine with modern beats.
After many tracks released on digital channels, their debut album “Tschuschistan” was released in June 2019 on the Berlin label Springstoff. Subsequently, the two siblings brought a top-class band on board with GASMAC GILMORE, which not only provided an additional boost of intensity live, but also proved to be a logical musical expansion in the direction of “Balkan sounds with a spaghetti western touch” since the anthem “Freunde dabei”. In July 2022, EsRAP's second album “Mamafih” was finally released again on Springstoff to great public acclaim, which was produced entirely under the aegis of the busy beat producer TESTA. In September 2023, “...weil sie Wien nicht kennen” was released, the first joint album with Gasmac Gilmore, which was presented at the sold-out Wiener Konzerthaus.
Live, EsRAP currently offer a selection of their previously released works. Spiced up with lots of charm, Ottakringer wit and a direct line to the audience.
