The Eight Cellists of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra were founded in 1980. Numerous renowned Austrian composers have written works for the ensemble. In the following ten years, over 100 concerts were given in Austria and abroad. The “Eight” have been back since 2005, with mostly new members.
