Founded in 1991 by Johannes Hiemetsberger, the Chorus sine nomine is one of Austria’s most distinguished and innovative concert choirs.
The choir performs a repertoire of remarkable stylistic diversity: from Renaissance works to contemporary compositions and commissioned works, as well as the major works of J.S. Bach. Numerous first prizes in international competitions and successful CD productions underscore the choir’s high quality and dedication to the preservation of a cappella music. Through thematic and staged productions ("frost.", "tuuli"), the Chorus sine nomine and Johannes Hiemetsberger have undertaken pioneering efforts in the further development of the "choral concert" genre.
Tours have taken the choir across Europe, as well as to America and Asia, including performances at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie and the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore. The choir regularly appears at prestigious festivals such as the Salzburg Festival and at the Vienna Musikverein.
