Bruckner Orchester Linz

The Bruckner Orchestra Linz is one of the leading orchestras in Central Europe, looks back on more than 200 years of history and has borne the name of the genius loci since 1967. Since Markus Poschner took office as chief conductor, the BOL has undergone a widely acclaimed process of opening up, generating many new formats, seeking out unexpected venues, finding surprising ways of communicating and, above all, creating artistic events with an inimitable dramaturgy whose urgency and intensity have generated an unprecedented response from audiences and the press in Upper Austria and around the world. Markus Poschner and the BOL are on the trail of their namesake's very own style of music and allow it to be heard in an unmistakable, Upper Austrian sound dialect, which manifests itself in a complete recording of all symphonies in all versions up to the Bruckner Year 2024. The BOL is not only the symphony orchestra of the province of Upper Austria, but also performs the musical productions of the Linz State Theater in the Musiktheater, one of the most modern theater buildings in Europe, which is the home of the BOL. Concerts at the International Bruckner Festival Linz, concert cycles in the Brucknerhaus and spectacular programs as part of the Ars Electronica Festival are all part of the orchestra's repertoire, as is its role as an ambassador for Upper Austria and its namesake on national and international concert stages. The Bruckner Orchestra Linz has had its own concert cycle at the Vienna Musikverein since 2012 and, for the first time in 2020, at the Brucknerhaus Linz. Collaborations with great soloists and conductors of our time underline the importance of the Upper Austrian orchestra. The BOL was named “Best Orchestra of the Year” at the 2020 Music Theater Prize. In 2024, the BOL and Markus Poschner received the prestigious “ICMA Special achievement award” for the complete recording of the Bruckner symphonies.
