Alma Deutscher is a conductor, composer, pianist and violinist. She was born in England in 2005 and began playing the piano at the age of two and the violin at the age of three. At the age of nine she wrote a violin concerto and at the age of twelve her piano concerto. In 2016, her first full-length opera “Cinderella” premiered in Vienna and in March 2003 her next opera “The Emperor's New Waltz” premiered at the Salzburg State Theater. In 2019, Alma received the European Culture Prize at a ceremony at the Vienna State Opera and was named one of twelve “ Helden von morgen” (Heroes of Tomorrow) by Stern magazine in the same year. She is currently recording her violin and piano concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra. Alma's first solo piano album “From My Book of Melodies” was released by Sony Classical and is published by Schirmer. Alma is currently studying conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 2023 she has presented and conducted a series of concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus with many of her own compositions. She lives in Vienna with her parents and younger sister.
