Uta Meenen has been working as a freelance costume designer at numerous renowned opera houses and theaters in Europe since 2001. Her first engagements took her to the theaters in Düsseldorf, Bochum, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, Graz and Vienna. She has worked with directors such as Patrick Schlösser (“Anatol”, “Hexenjagd”), Anna Badora (“Burnings”, “Antigone”), Jan Klata (“Richard III”) and Dušan David Pařízek (“Platonow”). From 2004 onwards, she worked at various opera houses, creating costumes for the Theater Basel, the Landestheater Linz, the St. Gallen Festival and the Domstufen in Erfurt, among others.

 

From 2010, Uta Meenen also designed costumes for musical productions and operettas such as “Anatevka” with Peter Hailer, “Cabaret” and “Die Csárdásfürstin” with Sandra Wissmann as well as “Evita”, “My Fair Lady” and “Kiss me, Kate” with Tom Ryser. In recent years, she has worked with stage designer and director Ben Baur on numerous projects, including “Don Giovanni” and “Dialogues des Carmélites” at Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, “Roméo et Juliette” and “Il trovatore” at Oper Graz, “Il pirata” and “Faust” at Theater St. Gallen, “La traviata” and “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken and August Enna's “Cleopatra” at the Danish National Opera in Aarhus.
