Conductor Verena Giesinger is the artistic director and the heartbeat, beat and baton of the Schmusechor. Emotional ballads by Aretha Franklin, danceable hits by the Backstreet Boys such as “I Want It That Way” and contemporary pop à la Billie Eilish: the live shows of the 50-strong troupe open up all emotional channels and are usually sold out within seconds. Extravagant outfits, daring stage performances and lipstick - for everyone! Gender boundaries are blurred and a clear stance against sexism and racism is a matter of course for the Schmusechor. Legend has it that the choir was founded around 9 years ago in a shared bedroom in Vienna. It is now impossible to imagine the Austrian music scene without it.
