Paul-Georg Dittrich studied directing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He has directed at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Aalto Musiktheater Essen, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Staatsoper Hamburg and Kampnagel Hamburg, Theater Heidelberg, Staatstheater Kassel, Oper Köln, Staatsoper Stuttgart and Landestheater Linz, among others. His production Ich bin Carmen und das ist kein Liebeslied was staged at the Volkstheater Wien in 2022 and Calls of Duty: Jeanne d' Arc in 2024. In 2018, he received the Hamburg Rolf Mares Theater Prize in the “Outstanding Production” category for “I.th.Ak.A.” by Samuel Penderbayne at the Hamburg State Opera. For his opera productions at Theater Bremen La Damnation de Faust by Hector Berlioz and Wozzeck by Alban Berg, he was nominated for the German Theater Prize FAUST in the category “Director of Music Theatre” in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, he was invited to the Theatertreffen NRW with his production of Die Wand based on the novel by Marlen Haushofer at Theater Aachen.
