Martin Mitterrutzner

After studying voice with Brigitte Fassbaender Martin Mitterrutzner was a member of the ensemble of the Oper Frankfurt from 2011 to 2019. Here the tenor appeared in the roles of Fenton (Falstaff), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Elvino (La Sonnambula) and Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola). Recently he presented himself in a song recital. In addition to his debut as Flamand (Capriccio), he will return as Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni). He began the current season as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) at the Semperoper Dresden and the Volksoper Wien. Guest engagements have taken him to the Theater an der Wien (Don Ottavio, Narraboth in Salome), the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Zurich Opera House (Tamino), the Salzburg Festival (Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, Ferrando in Così fan tutte), the Bavarian State Opera (Arbace in Idomeneo, Iopas in Les Troyens) and the Dresden Semperoper (Belmonte, Don Ramiro and Ferrando). He is also a welcome guest on the concert stage. He has appeared with the International Bach Academy Stuttgart, the Bavarian Radio Choir and Symphony Orchestra, Concentus Musicus, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester, the Palau de la Musica in Valencia and the Vienna Musikverein.
In the 2023/24 season, Martin Mitterrutzner returns to the stages of the Dresden Semperoper and the Vienna Volksoper as Tamino. Two further highlights are his appearances in a concertante Salome for the reopening of the Valencia Concert Hall and in the new production of Katja Kabanowa at the Dresden Semperoper, where he explores the Czech repertoire for the first time with Váňa Kudrjaš. Concerts have taken him to Berlin, Essen and to the Bruckner Festival in the Basilica of St. Florian. As a Lied singer, Martin Mitterrutzner has performed at the Cologne Philharmonie, London's Wigmore Hall and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. His recording of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin with the renowned classical guitarist Martin Wesely has recently been released.
