Born in Fukuoka, Japan. Manaho likes to describe herself as a “chameleon dancer” who creates her own style by merging different genres. In her various projects, she collaborates with choreographer Michael Turinsky, the band “INCUBUS”, the “Sofa Surfers” and many others. In 2016, she was also a dance soloist at Vadim Repin's Trans-Siberian Arts Festival (Russia) and Tsugio Tokunaga's Miyazaki International Music Festival (Japan). Since then, she has been a welcome guest at renowned international festivals. Together with violinist Yury Revich, she developed a choreography for Gustav Klimt's “The Kiss” - this performance is considered the first in the history of the Belvedere Museum. Other performances of this project took place at the Semperdepot, the Musikverein Vienna and the Theater Megaron, Athens. In 2017, Shimokawa, together with Esther Balfe, was part of “Ganymed Female”, which was staged by Jacqueline Kornmüller at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. In 2018, she was a soloist in “Ganymed Nature”, followed by “Ganymed in Love” in 2019, in which she performed together with trumpeter Martin Eberle. In 2021, she performed “soumething very new” with Matthias Loibner about her own experience of becoming a brother-in-law until the day she gave birth. In 2022, together with Kornmüller, Shimokawa plays “DIE UNHEIMLICHE BIBLIOTHEK” by Haruki Murakami at Odeon Theater in Vienna.
