Wo ist Walzer?

Strauss’ Blue Danube is so much a part of Austria’s collective identity that many people feel homesick when they hear it – abroad or not! What do we mean by home, why does something remind us of where we come from? (Childhood) memories are at work here, intellectual definition too, plus a
smattering of magic. Oodles of nostalgia, a touch of hope, a breath of utopia. “Home” can both unite and divide. Today, it is exploited in jockeying for political positions, so we need to ask what value it will have in the future.
