At the MuseumsQuartier Vienna
5 April 1874 saw the first performance of Strauss’ world-famous operetta. 151 years later to the day, the MuseumsQuartier hosts an all-day tribute to this musical miracle. The programme also includes the fly-by-nights that give it its title, standing for a group of “respectable“ citizens out for a night on the tiles and ending up next morning in the local jail! And why? Too much champagne! This life-enhancing masterwork shows us how to cope with the past (and the future) and deserves all the plaudits it has earned.
