Cagliostro – Johann Strauss in the circus tent

To mark Johann Strauss‘ 200th anniversary, the star-studded Circus-Theater Roncalli joins forces with the Festival 2025 to present an operetta in the intriguing setting of a circus tent. Madame Sophie’s circus is expecting the arrival of the illustrious magician Cagliostro and Laurenza the brightest star in the musical firmament. Sophie wants to sell the circus, her son Severin has ideas galore and wants to take it over. With things are coming to a head, Cagliostro arrives on the scene, to spell-binding effect. Based on motifs from the operetta Cagliostro in Wien, best-selling author Thomas Brezina has dreamed up a circus operetta for the whole family. The turbulent plot is set in the world of circus artists and attractions and revolves around secret longings, swindlers and mercenaries, human gullibility and the quest for ultimate bliss.
