More info for LichtStrauss
Light and art have always had the power to reveal and reframe connections between the past and the future. Internationally renowned artist Victoria Coeln brings these two media together in a language shaped by her artistic practice: an expressive form at the intersection of the visible and the invisible. In LichtStrauss, she stages the expansive parkland of Vienna’s Stadtpark as an intermedial world stage for all—an immersive light art installation inspired by bold, decisive women from Strauss’ operettas. The protagonists are distinguished women of today who have chosen to perform publicly in their own characteristic, highly personal ways. Filmed in Coeln’s studio and transformed into virtual “personas,” they inhabit specially created light habitats—so-called Chromotopes. Look forward to fascinating intermedial performances and an interactive search game that raises questions about the political history of women and their visibility in the public sphere.
