Born in Sri Lanka in 1983, Leslie Suganandarajah grew up in Hanover. In Hanover, Lübeck and Weimar he studied studied piano and conducting with renowned musicians like Golo Berg. The Hermann Hildebrandt Scholarship enabled him to work as an assistant to Michael Sanderling at the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2012 he became Kapellmeister at the Koblenz Theatre, moved to Landestheater Linz in 2017 and took over the position of music director at Landestheater Salzburg in 2019 where Lohengrin, Aida, Les pêcheurs de perles and Stuart MacRae's Anthropocene have been major milestones so far. In summer 2024, he was a guest at the Eutin Festival and conducted Freischütz. Leslie Suganandarajah has worked with the Berlin Konzerthausorchester, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Mozart Players and many more. In 2023/24 he made his debut with the Royal Philharmonic and BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra. With the Chineke! Orchestra he toured Europe.
