Costume Design

Jorine van Beek is from the Netherlands and studied costume design at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Wimbledon School of Arts in London. Whilst still a student, she designed costumes for productions at Städtische Bühnen in Osnabrück. She works as a freelance costume designer for opera and ballet and has designed costumes for the Dutch opera ensemble Opera Zuid, the Leipzig Opera, the Stuttgart State Opera and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Her most important productions include Aida at tOpéra national de Paris, Alcina at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Les pêcheurs de perles at Theater an der Wien, Il trittico at Bavarian State Opera and Le nozze di Figaro at the Festival International d'Art Lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence. In 2006 she received the Edmond Hustinx Prize for Fine Arts. She regularly collaborates with director Lotte de Beer, most recently on Carmen, La rondine and West Side Story at the Volksoper Wien.
